You like to read? I like to write.

About Me: I'm a freelance writer living in Northampton, MA, with my husband and two daughters. I write all the livelong day—sometimes for money, sometimes for fun. This is the fun part.

It’s been a while

…but I’m back.

Tonight I was reading Stella Raisel’s Riddle, a twist on Cinderella that stars a Jewish girl in Poland.  About halfway through the book it occurred to me to point this out:

“Hey Stella, you know what?”

“What?”

“You know how Raisel is a Jewish girl in Poland?”

“Yeah?”

“Well, you know who else was a Jewish girl in Poland?”

“Who?”

“The person you were named for! Your great-great-aunt Stella! How about that?”

“AAAAAAGH!” she screamed, and dove under the covers.  Some muffled “aaaghs” could be heard for a moment or two, then silence.  She crawled back out.

“What was that about?” I asked.

“Mommy! Only ZOMBIES live in Poland!”

What the…? At that moment, Lila — who was above us in the top bunk — helpfully put in, “Stella, zombies live all over the world.”
